This showed up a couple of days ago and got me intrigued . It purports to be an app to interface with a real guitar instrument called the 'Geek Guitar'. Seems the guitar has a bunch of LED's built into the neck which light up to provide chord and scale guidance while you play. Not a new idea, Fretlight ( http://www.fretlight.com ) have been doing a great job of this for years ... I own one and I love it. Perhaps its the only time I can play lead guitar and sound like I'm half competent! The trouble with Fretlight is there's a lot to plug in. The guitar plugs into an amp, then theres a pretty substantial USB cable which goes from the Guitar to a Laptop or computer. Then there's software to get up and running ... a driver plus whatever software is available to activate the LED's in the guitar.. and the selection isn't terrific ( I just saw a VST DAW plug in is now available which could be great! ). By the time it's all ready I look like the Borg Queen in that Star Trek movie and I'm afraid to move for fear of pulling everything off the table! Never has a piece of Guitar Tech been ripe for a WiFi or BlueTooth connection to an iPad!!!
Since Geek Guitar has an App I assume it has the connection too? Maybe its a possible solution.
Except try and find a 'Geek Guitar'. What is it? Where is it?
Best I could do was this link http://www.cart100.com/Product/43834114772/# where is found cryptic images like these! If anyone reads Chinese feel free to fill us in ...
The unit cost of $2233.17 each had better indicate that this is a killer guitar in its own right! Fretlight's most expensive offering runs about $700 and they are quite playable for that!
Anyway we'll keep an ear out to see if anything more concrete turns up. I'd love to know more.
