Hey this is really good! It's free, it's beautifully designed and it plays like a dream! It works just like the App Strum Stage I posted about earlier this week. There's three key pads which play different chords depending on which combination is held. On the iPad there's room for a lovely set of labelled keypads which serve to show you how the three pads are assigned, or they can be used to actually fret the chord while you strum! Best of both worlds!
The strings can be strummed by swiping or be tapped one at a time and they are very responsive and there's no appreciable latency. Unfortunately there are no dynamics on offer in this version but hopefully the developer might consider this please? Adding level control dependent on strum position along the length of the neck would be ideal.
Additionally there's a 'strum bar' at the Ukulele's bridge position. Tapping this makes the Uke play a pre-selected strum pattern ( chosen from a library in the preferences ). It plays the strum at the Tempo set in the preferences but it occurred to me it would be great if the pattern could be played at the speed of swiping the strum bar? Tapping the 'Auto' button males the strum pattern play in a loop so you just have to switch chords. And the strum Patterns are really nice too!
There's a good chord library available ... pretty sure you can piece together a pretty good rendition of 'It's A Wonderful World' from these!
The icing on the cake is the Four Ukulele sounds to choose from... though I suspect they are the same samples with a little reverb and delay added. The sounds are very good though.
So refreshing to see a design-award quality app pop up. Lets all write to congratulate the developers and ask if they could bring their talents on bear on a Guitar Version!!! Here's the email address!
