iFretless is a guitar fretboard re-designed for maximum playability on iOS devices. It replaces two handed playing and strumming with a one-touch-per-note design that enables fast, precise playing of melodies, scales, and arpeggios and real-time control over the pitch of each individual note.
iFretless is not an imitation guitar for your iPhone; it's a new way to make music.

Get your wallet out. iFretless is a serious contender for playing actual music if your head is built around the layout of a stringed instrument. Like it says up-front this isn't for strumming chords but for hammering out solos, arpeggios and crunchy doublet/power chords. The sounds, which include a bunch of guitar types plus some bolstering synth and string timbres are top notch. There's tone control, overdrive, reverb, wah wah and vibrato along with really tuneful pitch bending. The dynamics and 'touch' of iFretless is awesome ... other developers take note of this attention to detail!
IFretless also has good MIDI out facility and other stuff. Maybe I'll do a full review. It's worth it.
Criticisms and wants? Sure. On an iPad the minimum number (wow that's hard to type) of strings is 7. Why can't I have 6 ? Guitars have 6. I'm a moron and I don't want it to go to 7... or 9! I get confused. Please can I have less? And while its nice to be able to turn on the note names of the Natural notes ( A/B/C/D/E/F/G ) can't there please be a way to lose them and get scale markers instead? The dark marks on the strings would work great, with the broken marker showing the root note.
Of course I'd love to trigger some chords on this ... you could try to play them note by note but you'd have to be very dextrous and good at theory. I'm neither. Please, six strings and a row of chord pads! If anyone reads this ... write and ask the developer!
